Admission Eligibility
|
(i) Candidates wishing to be admitted to the Ph.D. course in
Geography should apply in writing to the Head of the Department at any time during the course of the academic year giving details of his/her academic qualifications/ research experience and the areas in which the candidate wishes to conduct research towards the Ph.D. Degree.
(ii) The application will be placed before the Departmental Research Committee (DRC). If the Committee is satisfied about the eligibility of the candidate, it may advise him/her to prepare a synopsis on a research topic in consultation with the proposed research supervisor.
(iii) The candidate shall submit three copies of synopsis to the Screening Committee and shall make an oral presentation also. The candidate shall make changes in the synopsis on the basis of the comments and suggestions in consultation with the supervisor.
(iv) Ten copies of the final synopsis shall be submitted to the Head of the Department, which will be placed before the Departmental Research Committee. The Committee may require the candidate to defend his/her research proposal.
(v) The Departmental Research Committee, if it is satisfied about the worthiness of the proposal, shall recommend the candidate for formal admission to the Ph.D. course to the Board of Research Studies in Humanities.
(vi) The candidate should prepare the synopsis within four months after the approval of the application by DRC. Candidates are advised to keep this in view when they apply for admission to the Ph.D. course.
(vii) In the case of scholarship holders and foreign students, the admission procedures may be suitably modified by the Departmental Research Committee. |
