Achievements - Academic Year 2004-05

  1. A Seminar on “Recent Development in Corporate Governance: Family Controlled Corporations in Canada” was organized by Faculty of Law on August 13, 2004 in Seminar Hall of Campus Law Centre. See Report
  2. Training Programme for Clinical Legal Education on Human Rights: The Programme was organized by Faculty of Law, University of Delhi in association with South Asian Law Schools Forum for Human Rights (SALS Forum) on Saturday, 14th August, 2004 at Indian Law Institute, New Delhi. See Report
  3. The Lok Adalat was organized by the Faculty of Law on Sunday, the 12th September, 2004 from 10:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. at the premises of the Faculty of Law.  Approximately 600 cases of different nature i.e. MACT (Motor Accident Claim Cases), Bank Cases (Credit Cards and HUTCH Payments) and Matrimonial Cases were listed for this Lok Adalat.  Over 300 cases were taken up.  80% cases have been settled through this Lok Adalat.  Over 1.5 crores of rupees have been given as compensation to victims.  As many as 14 Matrimonial cases have also been settled.  More than 15 sitting judges of different Courts presided over the different benches of the Lok Adalat.  More than 100 insurance and bank officials were also present to settle the cases.
  4. All Delhi Moot Court Competition was organized on Saturday, the September 19th, 2004, in which teams from VIPS, GGSIPU, CLC, Amity, LC-I participated.  The best student advocate prize went to a student of Vivekanand Institute of Professional Studies, Delhi.  The winner team was of Campus Law Centre, Delhi University and the runner up team was of GGSIP University, Delhi.
  5. Post Graduate Law Students Union’s Programme: A programme was organized by the Post Graduate Law Students Union on 28th September, 2004 to welcome new entrants Hon’ble Union Minister of Law, Mr. H. R. Bhardwaj, inaugurated the programme and interacted with students & teachers for almost two hours.
  6. Four Day Winter School on ‘Law Teaching and Legal Research Skills’  was jointly organized by British Council, India, Faculty of Law, University of Delhi and Cardiff Law School, UK at British Council, New Delhi from February 10-13, 2005. See Report
  7. Legal Awareness Programme: A weeklong Legal Awareness Programme was organized by the Faculty of Law,  University of Delhi together with National Legal Services Authority (NALSA) during March 1-7, 2005.  The Programme involved reaching out to the community, assessing the legal needs of the community and giving legal advise and also informing the public of the Legal Aid avenues available.  The programme was launched on March 1, 2005 with the inauguration of a Women and child Protection Unit at the Faculty of Law premises by the Hon’ble Mr. Justice N. Santosh Hegde, Judge, Supreme Court of India. See Report
  8. National Client Interviewing and Counselling Competition  was organized by the Moot Court Society, Faculty of Law, University of Delhi on 12th to 13th March, 2005, at Faculty of Law, University of Delhi.  The Campus Law Centre, Faculty of Law, University of Delhi, won the competition and the team from Hidayatullah College of Law, Raipur was adjudged the Runners Up.  Hon’ble Mr. Justice N. Jagannadha Rao, Judge (Retd.), Supreme Court of India, and Chairman, Law Commission of India inaugurated the programme. See Report
  9. XVII Professor R. V. Kelkar Memorial Lecture was organized on 30th April, 2005 in the Seminar Hall, Faculty of Law.  Hon’ble Mr. Justice A. S. Anand, Former Chief Justice of India, Chairman, National Human Rights Commission, New Delhi delivered the memorial Lecture on the topic “Rights of Victims of Crime-Need for a fresh Look”.
