Department of Business Economics



The programmes in Business Economics are designed to meet the growing need for an analytical and quantitative approach to problem solving in the changing corporate world by the application of the latest techniques evolved in the fields of Economics and Business. The Department also arranges an Annual Convention every year during which experts from different fields speak on contemporary issues in the Economy and Business.

The current research interests of the Department Faculty include, Business Policy and Strategy, Industry Studies, Environmental and Resource Economics, Foreign Trade, Macro Economic, Policy, International Finance and Marketing, Applied Econometrics, Energy Economics, Labour Economics, Urban Economics, and Economics of Climate Change.

The Department arranges summer training and the final placement of students in industrial and commercial houses and reputed research organizations.

MASTER OF BUSINESS ECONOMICS (COURSE AVAILABLE SOUTH CAMPUS, UNIVERSITY OF DELHI)

ELIGIBILITY:

Graduate (Under 10+2+3)/Post-Graduate in any discipline, with at least 50% marks from the University of Delhi of any other University recognized as equivalent thereto.

Foreign students studying in Indian Universities are required to appear in Admission Test. In addition to the number of seats specified for these programmes, supernumerary seats are available for foreign students. All foreign students need to apply through the Dean, Foreign Students c/o Faculty of Management Studies, University of Delhi, Delhi-110007

Selection Procedure:The shortlisting of the candidates for admission to the MFC and MBE Programs will be done on the basis of their performance in Entrance Test which seeks to test the aptitude of the candidates for studies in business analysis and management. The Entrance Test will consist of multiple choice questions relating to English Comprehension and Verbal Ability, Analytical Reasoning, Data Interpretation and Data Sufficiency, Quantitative Ability (covering Basic Arithmetic, Algebra, Calculus, Basic Statistics and Data Analysis) and Current Business Environment.

The short listed candidates shall be called for group discussion and personal interview. Candidates called for group discussion and interview shall bear travel and other incidental expenses themselves. In all cases, the decision of the Admission Committee shall be final.


M.PHIL PROGRAMME

Eligibility Condition for admission in the programme:
Masters degree in Business- Economics/ Economics/ Commerce with at least 55% marks at the masters level.
Seats for SC, ST and OBC students will be reserved as per university rules.


PH.D PROGRAMME

Eligibility Condition for admission in the programme:
The Department of Business Economics offers Ph.D. in Business Economics.
For admission to Ph.D. programme, candidate should have least 55% marks in Master’s programme in Business-Economics / Economics / Commerce / MBA and M.Phil degree from any recognized University.
