About College

Sri Guru Nanak Dev Khalsa College was established in 1973 as Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Khalsa Post Graduate Evening College. In mid 90’s it became a day college and subsequently in July 2005, it was made into a full fledged morning college. Managed by the Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee, it takes pride in being one among the select quality educational institution run by it. As an academic institution, it draws inspiration from lives and teachings of Sikh Gurus, and tries to integrate learning with humanity.

Located in a central place like Karol Bagh, the commercial hub of Delhi, the college is accessible to students all over the capital city as well as the NCR,by metro and bus.

Presently, the college has 2171 students, more than 85 highly qualified faculty members, and over 40 administrative and support staff. The nine departments of the college offer ten undergraduate courses and two post graduate programme. These include job oriented courses such as B.A. Hons. In Business Economics and B.A. Hons. in Hindi Journalism and Mass Communication. Though the college imparts education as per Delhi University guidelines, it works towards evolving as a resource centre of holistic learning. It is with this objective in view the state-of-the-art academic and extra-curricular infra-structure is provided to the students. The college library not only houses some 71639 books but also subscribes to a good number of research journals as desired by the different college departments from time to time. Fully computerized, it is also centrally air-conditioned. Complimenting the library are the five perfectly equipped computer labs for students use. The college also has a state-of-the-art seminar room for Academic Seminars, discussion session and special lecture sessions. Super indoor game facilities are provided in the form of college gymnasium – with special provision for weight lifting and power lifting. Separate Girl’s common room and Boys common room are provided.

Over the year the college has earned a reputation for excellence in academics and extra-curricular activities. The University results of the last few years bear this out. In sports, our students have been participating and have performed outstandingly in various competitions of Gymnasium, Judo, Cricket etc.

As a special feature of our academic concerns, career counseling at the college is taken up through out the year in a big way and on-campus placement sessions are also held.This year about 150 students were placed through in-house placement cell.

At SGND Khalsa (as it is popularly known), while there is a great emphasis on recognizing the wisdom and strength of our tradition, a greater emphasis is put on empowering students with contemporary knowledge system and skill and thereby enabling to take their place in the dynamic globalize world that is awaiting them.
