The department of Electronic Science was established in 1985 and is widely recognized as one of themost prestigious Electronic Science Department in the country.
The department is conducting courses leading to M.Tech in Microwave Electronics , M.Sc. in Electronics and Post B.Sc. diploma in Instrumentation. The aim of these programmes is to provide the necessary theoretical background and practical experience in order to meet the requirements of the R & D organizations and Industries. All the students joining these courses are required to undergo training in the industry or R & D organizations. In addition M.Tech and M.Sc. students work for six months on projects in collaboration with industry and R & D organizations. The curriculum of these courses is updated regularly to keep it in consonance with the changing industrial environment. The interface with the industry is further enhanced by annual seminar under the visitor’s programme in which professionals from the industry and R&D organizations and Academics are invited to deliver special lectures.
A full range of resources and facilities are available to the students. The department has a well equipped computer laboratory with various circuit simulation and microwave design software for the students. In addition there are well equipped laboratories for the experimental work in the following areas :
Microwave measurements
Communication Electronics
Circuit Design
Electrical Machines and Control Systems
Electronic Materials and Semiconductor Devices
Microprocessors and Digital Signal Processing
Optical Electronics
The department also has a workshop. The department is actively helping the students in their placement through campus Interviews. Students graduating from the department have found positions in both , government and leading private organizations working in Space Application, Telecommunications and Semiconductors.
The faculty members are actively engaged in research as well as supervision of research leading to the Ph. D. degree in the field of optical electronics , semiconductors, VLSI modeling , microwaves, microelectronics and conducting polymers. The department has Collaboration both, at National as well as International level. There are several research projects Funded by the UGC, CSIR, DST, AICTE, DRDO, NSF (USA) and JSPS (Japan). |

The Department of Electronic Science offers various courses such as:
a) M.Tech. (Microwave Electronics) One and a half year duration.
b) M.Sc. (Electronics)Two year duration.
c) Post B.Sc. (Electronic Instrumentation) One year duration.

All the faculty members have been engaged in international level research work and acquired research projects from various government. Some of the faculty members have obtained projects International funding agencies. Some members are providing consultancy to govt. organizations. Almost all the faculty members have been abroad for research work. (U.K., U.S.A., Japan, France, Italy, Russia ,Germany, Singapore etc.) |
